Member Spotlight: Gunnel Hag

Introducing AVT member Gunnel Hag from Ontario, Toronto, Canada.

"I have learned so much as a member of AVT, especially about how to use equipment to teach online."

What do you teach?

I teach loads of Surface Design techniques for creating beautiful fabrics (Printing with Found Objects, Screen Printing, Block Printing, Resist Printing, Rusting, Bleaching, Colour and Texture on Fabric, Leaf and Nature Printing, Colour Mixing, Metallic Foil, Mono Printing - with and without Gel Plate).

Why do you teach?

I teach because I love to share my knowledge, and it gives me great pleasure to get to know my students and how they learn. Really, I get so much back from watching my students' progress and joy in learning.

What is something else you love to do?

I give talks and lectures to guilds and conferences, and love meeting quilters and artists from around the world. In the last few years I've been teaching via Zoom, which is wonderful, because I can teach all over the world. In my spare time I love the outdoors, and take a lot of my inspiration for my own work from nature. I can't wait to get in my canoe and explore our great lakes!
